Fujifilm X-E1

Feature 1X-Trans CMOS Sensor – Extra high quality image capture

The design of the X-Trans CMOS sensor taps into the full power of its APS-C sized sensor and captures images with exceptional resolution, smooth tones and minimal noise.

Equipped with a Large APS-C Sensor for the Highest Image Quality.
Achievement of Superb High Resolution, High Sensitivity & Impressive “Bokeh” Effect

The X-E1's sensor is the same high-performance 16 megapixel APS-C X-Trans CMOS found in the X Series flagship X-Pro1 model. Featuring Fujifilm's unique colour filter array with its highly random pixel arrangement, the X-Trans CMOS sensor eliminates the need for an optical low-pass filter, which is used in conventional systems to inhibit moiré at the expense of resolution. The innovative array lets the X-Trans CMOS sensor capture unfiltered light from the lens and produce unprecedented resolution. The uniquely random arrangement of the colour filter array is also highly effective in enhancing noise separation in high-sensitivity photography. Another advantage of the large APS-C sensor is the ability to create a beautiful “bokeh”effect – the aesthetic out-of-focus effect created when shooting with a shallow depth of field.

Conventional Array

Repeating pattern in the case of an array of 2 x 2 pixel units.

New Filter Array

Higher degree of randomness with an array of 6 x 6 pixel units.

EXR Technologies - Capturing nature exactly as you see it

Standard ISO range to ISO6400 and extended range to ISO25600

With its large APS-C sensor and the elimination of the optical low-pass filter, Fujifilm's X-Trans CMOS sensor is an excellent low-light performormer, delivering a standard ISO range up to ISO6400. No matter when or where the shutter opportunity arises, you can depend on the X-E1's high-sensitivity image capture to defeat blur caused by camera shake or subject motion, and to capture the moment beautifully.

High Resolution

In bright scenes, every minute detail; from the leaves on the trees, to a wisp of hair in a portrait, is captured with exceptionally high resolution.

Wide Dynamic Range

In high contrast scenes, for example when shooting outside on a very bright sunny day with a strong contrast between the bright sunshine and dark shadows, this technology overcomes the usual difficulties and is able to capture detail in both highlights and shadowy areas.

Film simulation - explore the nuances of colour.

Giving you the chance to explore the perfect artistic effect for your composition, the X-E1 can simulate the colour and tonal qualities of highly popular traditional Fujifilm photographic films, including the natural look of PROVIA, the vibrant tonality and saturated colours of Velvia and the silky soft look and beautiful skin tones of ASTIA.

On the LCD, you can view not only the same image displayed in the electronic viewfinder, but also switch it to show a simple shooting data display.

4:3 Aspect Ratio

The LCD’s 4:3 aspect ratio provides a large screen to view the complete 3:2 image with ample room for the display of shooting information outside the image frame.

Shooting Information Display

The large display of numerical data and icons lets you know the current camera settings at a glance. Check the key shooting data without stress or hassle, leaving you free to concentrate on framing the shot in the viewfinder.

Electronic horizon leveling gauge

When composing a shot in the spacious LCD, the built-in electronic level display makes it easy to align the image with the true horizon.

Framing Guidline

The “FRAMING GUIDELINE” option in Tab 4 of the shooting menu offers a choice of GRID 9, GRID 24, and HD FRAMING. The “grid” options are a very effective aid to composition when, for example, framing photographs with the subjects arranged along a diagonal.
