HP5 Plus has a nominal speed of ISO 400 and is particularly well suited to documentary, street, portrait, travel, action and general photography. Its wide exposure latitude makes it highly versatile in changing lighting conditions, while its high speed makes it an excellent choice for available-light and low-light photography.

The film can be rated at exposure indices from EI 400 up to EI 3200 with appropriate processing adjustments, providing additional flexibility when shooting in difficult lighting conditions. It can be processed using standard black and white film chemistry and is supplied in a DX-coded cassette.
