WHAT AM I BUYING?
The MOD54 is an adaptor to process 6 sheets of 4x5" sheet film. This adaptor is designed to fit in a Paterson 3 Reel tank (model PTP116).
WHAT PATERSON TANK DOES IT GO IN?
This adaptor is designed to fit in a Paterson 3 Reel tank (model PTP116), this is the tank that you can fit 3x 35mm reels in. It is a Super System 4 model.
HOW MUCH CHEMICAL DO I NEED?
1 litre of each, enough to fill the tank and fully immerse the sheets.
Load the sheets lining up the ridges on the sheets with the ridges on the TOP of the MOD54.
Agitate as per developer instruction. Generally for the first 60 seconds then 10 seconds every minute.
It's good practice to test your development time first.
Longer processing times work best, ie around 16mins, so dilute your solutions if necessary to get a time around this.
Streaking is a very weird phenomenon. Tends to occur only when all the images are very pale or around 18% Gray and only on the inner two sheets. If all images are darker then no streaking occurs, weird combined reaction result. With pale negs its advised to just process 4 sheets and put two old sheets in the inner slots.
If the central column is hard to insert in the dark, then do it in the light (seems obvious but took me ages to come up with).
When processing less than 6 sheets it's good practice to use dummy sheets to fill out all the slots. This helps regulate the flow of chemical. Place dummy sheets in the inner most slots.
Pre Soaking for 5mins is advised for colour films.
Tap the tank well after each agitation.
